How are BIOCUPS Produced?

BIOCUPS are made with 70% bagasse, which is a byproduct of sugar cane and 30% wood pulp. With a purpose to make the cups watertight, they are lined with PLA (Polylactic Acid) which is made from plant-based materials such as corn starch or sugar cane. PLA is referred to as a bioplastic because these materials are made from renewable resources, and change into rich fertilizer when properly disposed.

Our lids are made 100% from sugarcane bagasse and use absolutely zero petrochemicals. They also have zero paper content, helping us save trees! In spite of everything, the stirring sticks are made of 100% percent birch wood. BIOCUPS cups are FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved, and have been certified Compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) and DIN CERTCO.
